Welcome to the Sioux Scout website

Welcome to the Sioux Scout website
The Sioux Scout website is a place to find fun and informative content ranging from the outdoors in general, hiking & camping on one end, and self reliance & preparedness on the other. The goal is to show just how much those two cultures have in common. A Prepper can learn a lot from a Hiker and vise versa.

We are all about having a positive focused mindset, having the right gear and the know how to work the two together for whatever adventure lays ahead.

Getting Involved Takes More Effort than Hitting the Facebook Like Button

As firearms owners and shooting sports enthusiasts, we need to be more involved than ever before. One does not have to look past what is currently happening in the State of Connecticut to see why. We all need to be proactive and get involved with protecting our rights and interests. But getting involved requires more effort than simply liking or sharing a pro-gun or pro-2nd Amendment picture on Facebook.

Doing the same online acts that shows your friend that you like a picture of their cat won’t do much to protect your rights. We all need to join and financially support pro-gun organizations such as Gun Owners of America, National Association for Gun Rights, National Rifle Association, and the Second Amendment Foundation.

I personally am an active supporter of the NRA. Many gun owners have mixed feeling about the NRA, but love them or hate them they are our biggest voice. Besides renewing my membership every three years, I donate to some of their pledge mailing they send out and donate a few bucks at checkout when I but from some online retailers such as Cheaper Than Dirt and Brownells.

The latest NRA form letters I will be mailing.
Besides being an active supporter of the NRA, I also write and email my elected representatives from both parties at the State and Federal levels. I know at best I can usually expect a form letter sent back to me from one of their aides, but at least my voice is getting out there.  Now if the rest of the estimated 80,000,000 firearms owners did the same thing, perhaps the politicians that are on the fence about the pros and cons of gun control would see which way they should be voting. Especially if those 80 million people let them know how the politicians vote regarding gun control is a direct influence on how they will return vote during the next election.

To be honest, some of those numbers really bother me. The NRA is the biggest gun rights group out there and they currently have around 5 million members and there are roughly 80 million firearm owners in the United States. In a time when the anti-gunners are aggressively trying to enact gun control laws across the country, only about 6% of firearm owners are members of the NRA.

Getting involved takes more effort than hitting the Facebook like button. Get involved people.
