Boiling Frogs with an AK

No this is not an ode to MattV2099 post on my part. There will be no cooking frogs, sorry for the misleading headline. I'm referring to the recent post on the Military Arms Chanel's blog, The Bang Switch. MAC defends his position that the recent Executive Order banning the import of Saiga AKs (and maybe other things) is merely a small measure of gun control disguised as political sanctions.

I think MAC's right, again. The new sanctions against Russia, that ban the import of Saiga AKs will not mean a thing to Russia. It is just a gun control measure he can get away with. This type of thing is what the anti gunner politicians can get away with. The anti gun crowd are happy at least some guns are banned. Many pro gun people don't care because they don't shoot AKs. Even many AK shooters don't care because they still have other options.

But it is still one chip taken off out of rights, and most people are just fine with it. This is really a great example of the old analogy of boiling live frogs in water. The saying goes, if you place the live frogs in room temperature water and slowly increase the temperature, the frogs will acclimate to the warmer water and not notice they are starting to be cooked. With each little ban or restriction that doesn't affect all firearms owners, over time the temperature is raised on us, and we don't seem to mind. 

We need to stop thinking "well that doesn't make a huge difference overall" when these restrictions to our rights are placed on us. We need to stand up and fight back against them. No matter how small they seem. Because all these small ones are adding up.
