Welcome to the Sioux Scout website

Welcome to the Sioux Scout website
The Sioux Scout website is a place to find fun and informative content ranging from the outdoors in general, hiking & camping on one end, and self reliance & preparedness on the other. The goal is to show just how much those two cultures have in common. A Prepper can learn a lot from a Hiker and vise versa.

We are all about having a positive focused mindset, having the right gear and the know how to work the two together for whatever adventure lays ahead.

Public Image

It may just be a coincidence or I'm not remembering other examples. But the images we saw on the news of the kid that went on the stabbing spree got me thinking. Why the hospital gown? Normally if the capture the mass shooting psycho before for he ends his own life, he is paraded around in an orange prison jumpsuit.

The images the public sees can weigh heavily on how they judge things. Sad but it's true, humans really do judge books by the cover. When we see the orange jumpsuit, we see a criminal, someone dangerous, immoral, unethical, or threat. When we see a hospital gown; we see sick, weak, injured or victimized.

Now I am not claiming or trying to imply that somebody said like: "Make sure he's dress in a hospital gown when the reporters show up. We want to play down the knife attack before the pro-gunners have a field day with this." But I am sure there are plenty in the main stream media who will make sure images like this are all that are shown of this psychopath for that very reason.
