While a backyard shooting range may be a thing of envy by most shooters who live within city limits, out here in the country they are fairly common. On a summer weekend in my neck of the woods one can hear gunfire all directions.
Most people simply have a mound of dirt that they can shoot a pistol at or sight in their deer rifle from 100 yards away. Others have a pretty impressive setup, with multiple targets at different ranges. But my neighbor’s has something a bit more impressive. They have a trap range.
I don’t mean they have a hand thrower for clay pigeons and a nice field to throw them in. I mean they have an ATA regulation trap range, complete with handicap yardage lanes and a voice activated thrower. It is quite the set up to say the least.
To say my neighbors are avid trap shooter would be an understatement. They both shoot multiple leagues and travel for shoot and tournaments. Both are top shooter at the clubs they belong to. They are pretty serious trap shooters; which you would expect if they are willing to spend the thousands of dollars on dirt work and cement.

The owners even have two large est up tables and and several gun racks for their guest to use. |
I consider myself to be pretty lucky to live where I live. It is a great part of the country to be. But now that my neighbor's a mile down the road have this set up, and the invite me over every once it a while, I like living here even more.
