Welcome to the Sioux Scout website

Welcome to the Sioux Scout website
The Sioux Scout website is a place to find fun and informative content ranging from the outdoors in general, hiking & camping on one end, and self reliance & preparedness on the other. The goal is to show just how much those two cultures have in common. A Prepper can learn a lot from a Hiker and vise versa.

We are all about having a positive focused mindset, having the right gear and the know how to work the two together for whatever adventure lays ahead.

Not Worth the Hype

Per the Firearms Blog:
NRA 2014: Glock Confirms Upcoming Factory Threaded Barrels and New Production 17L’s

Last week Glockmeister hinted on their Facebook page of new models being offered by Glock. This of course start a buzz for the long desired for single stack 9mm and other dream models. Some people were a bit more grounded in their predictions by guessing the new models would be some of the gaps in the Gen 4 line up. All are now pretty much disappointed with the announcement of Gen 3s coming with OEM threaded barrels.

Yes, the run of new G17L's will have some people happy. And a handful will appreciate the threaded OEM threaded barrels, but it's nothing to get excited about. Not that many people use suppressors; of those people I don't see many holding off buying a Glock to shoot suppressed because they'd have to by a $150 aftermarket barrel.

The biggest market for the new Glocks will be the mall ninja. Now mall ninjas everywhere can buy the more tactical threaded barrel Glock. They'll never buy a suppressor for it, but they'll still be able to impress their friends, when they show them their new weapon system in between games of Call of Duty.
