Where is the Glock Model 40?

With all the hype leading up to SHOT Show around the new Glock models 41 and 42. Many people are asking "what about 40?" It seems there is a hole in the model number sequence for Glock.

The most logical thing I heard is that Glock skipped it to avoid confusion with the .40S&W models. This makes sense to me because I could see conversations taking place in local gun stores everywhere that would put Abbott & Costello's "Who's on First" routine to shame.

Customer:"I would like a Glock 22"
LGS Clerk: "The full size .40?"
Customer: "No the .22"
LGS Clerk: "Oh, you want the Glock 40."
Customer: "Yep the Glock 40. I've always wanted a Glock .22"

Personally I'm hoping Glock is using it as an ace up their sleeve for a SHOT Show surprise.
